Display Unit Replacement

Introduction

In This manual we will show how to change the Azon Display unit.

You are highly advised to purchase your spare parts from Azonprinter.

Printhead Used for this procedure is a Epson DX5 Printhead

suitable for UV ink. Upon replacement of the printhead by procedure

we should replace a set of dampers. Usual Life expectancy of the printhead is

about 3 years or 6 billion shots per nozzle

Tools Used

PH2 120mm Screwdriver

Allen Key Number 3 (Metric)

Step 1

Make sure the machine is connected to a power outlet and power ON the Primary power switch

STEP 2

Power ON the machine on the Green Secondary Power Switch.

Leave the machine to complete the boot procedure

STEP 3

Use the move back arrow on the touchscreen to position the Gantry about 40-50 cm from the front.

STEP 4

Adjust Gantry Height to about 3-5 cm from the table surface

STEP 5

Turn the machine off on the primary switch

There is no need to follow the normal shut down procedure on this step. Shut down the machine like described above.

STEP 6

Power OFF the machine on the Primary switch. Marked as number 1. on the picture

Unplug the ,machine main power cable. Marked as number 2. on the picture

When connecting the USB cable into the screen make sure machine is in ready state without any errors and there is enough ink in the main tanks so that there is no exclamations on the screen.

STEP 18

STEP 20

STEP 21

Before proceeding please make sure that Microsoft driver signature enforcement is switched OFF. Windows 10 will most likely not allow you to install unsigned drivers. In order to disable windows driver signature you can follow one of the many online tutorial like the following one : LINK

Extract the previously downloaded driver to a known location on your local hard drive

Go into System > Device manager > Other Devices and locate teh driver windows named as VIEWTECH-SDW. Double click the driver and wait for the driver properties window to open.

Click the “Update Driver” box on the newly open window.

STEP 22

Continuing from the previous step ,chose “Browse my computer for driver software” on the newly shown screen

Chose to pick the driver from the list by clicking the “Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer” button and click “Next”

Click on “Show All Devices” and select next

On the following page select “Have Disk” and then Browse for your previously extracted driver location in step 30. Depending if your Windows install is x32 or x64 chose the corresponding driver. Drivers are compatible with windows ranging from version 7 to 10.

STEP 23

After choosing the driver from the previous step, “Azon printer display” should be shown as your printer model. Click next to continue on the next window.

Driver installation should begin at this point………

In the new window you should receive a message that the driver is successfully installed. If the driver was not installed
successfully you should double check if you had disabled the Microsoft driver enforcement settings.

Correctly installed driver should display the information like on screen number 4

STEP 24

Run the previously installed “Download assistant” application.On the open window select “Download Assistant

STEP 25

Before all make sure USB mini cable is connected to the display.The connectivity monitor is marked as 1 on the attached image.

Make sure to select your BAUD rate as 115200, Keyboard set to 16IO and CRC check to None. Select and enable the other options except the last one. Backlight is set to none.

Click the SET button and observe the image on the next step

STEP 26

If all is correct after pressing the SET button from the previous step, the screen should show some letters like shown on the attached image.

STEP 27

Before all make sure USB mini cable is connected to the display.The connectivity monitor is marked as 1 on the attached image.

Make sure to select your BAUD rate as 115200, Keyboard set to 16IO and CRC check to None. Select and enable the other options except the last one. Backlight is set to none.

Click the SET button and observe the image on the next step

STEP 28

Before all make sure USB mini cable is connected to the display.The connectivity monitor is marked as 1 on the attached image.

Make sure to select your BAUD rate as 115200, Keyboard set to 16IO and CRC check to None. Select and enable the other options except the last one. Backlight is set to none.

Click the SET button and observe the image on the next step

STEP 29

Select the “Add image” button and select to add all BMP files to the list in this folder.

Select the First Azon aaa_logo.bmp file and select OPEN

STEP 31

Click on the “download” button

Wait for the image download process to finish.

If all goes well , the last image should be the waste ink tank and there should be a message you need to confirm that all pictures were downloaded successfully.

From the “file download” drop down list select “Download Icon File”.

Locate your previously downloaded “icons.txt” file. (Its in the same folder as the touchscreen display pictures)

Click on “Download” button

If all goes well you will be presented with a Icon file download finished screen. Click on OK to finish and continue to the next step.

From the “file download” drop down list select “Download Icon File”.

Locate and select your previously downloaded “icons.txt” file. (Its in the same folder as the touchscreen display pictures)

Click on “Download” button

If all goes well you will be presented with a Icon file download finished screen. Click on OK to finish and continue to the next step.

STEP 35

From the “file download” drop down list select “Download Touch-control File”

Locate and select your previously downloaded “touch.txt” file. (Its in the same folder as the touchscreen display pictures)

Click on “Download” button

If all goes well you will be presented with a Touch file download finished screen. Click on OK to finish and continue to the next step.

Select “Stop” button to stop the USB Connection

Power off the machine on the secondary power switch

STEP 39

Power OFF the machine on the Primary switch. Marked as number 1. on the picture

Unplug the ,machine main power cable. Marked as number 2. on the picture

STEP 40

Return the front display cover back to its posittion

STEP 41

Apply the Allen Screws back in position and fasten the front display cover

STEP 42

Return the side cover to its posittion

STEP 43

Apply the Allen screws with washers back in place.

STEP 44

Open the Mainboard compartment cover on the back

STEP 45

Connect a USB “Type B” cable to the black connector marked on the left image. The connector leads to the Azon Shiled Board which at this point needs to be upgraded.

The other end of the cable connect to your PC that you used for screen flashing in the previous steps

Download the latest firmware version from the following LINK

Download the firmware flashing software from the following LINK

If the driver is not automatically installed and a new COM port is shown in your device manager , you might need to install the arduino programing environment from the following LINK

STEP 47

Open the windows device manager and locate the COM port section. Make sure the Arduino Mega 2560 is installed and mark the port number as you will need this for firmware flashing.

If there is no Arduino COM port installed , try to install the previously downloaded Arduino package (use only the Arduino installer from the download link we provided despite there might be new versions online go with version 1.0.6. If even after the driver package install and PC restart there is still no COM port visible in the device manger you need to troubleshoot the USB connection or potentially replace Azon Shield Board.

STEP 48

Locate and extract the previously downloaded Batloader.zip

Run “Batload.bat” batch file

Open the windows device manager and locate the COM port section. Make sure the Arduino Mega 2560 is installed and mark the port number as you will need this for firmware flashing.

STEP 49

After running the Batload.bat” batch fie you will be presented with a windows like on the image. Select your previously marked COM port and write the number of it and hit ENTER

The utility will first verify the connection and read the old firmware from the board.

After reading , Utility starts writing the new firmware. At this point make sure not to disconnect the USB as you might brick the board. After the writing is finished you will receive a message of a successful flash.

If you receive messages of unsuccessful write you might need to replace your control board. It is very important that you flash while machine is not connected to the Main power outlet.

STEP 50

After successful Firmware flashing disconnect the USB cable

STEP 51

Close the mainboard compartment cover on the back of the machine.

STEP 52

Connect the power cord to the machine power socket

Power on the machine at the primary power switch.

STEP 53

Power on the machine on the primary power switch.

Make sure the printer table is clear from any objects as the machine will move all the way to the back during boot.

STEP 54

In the event when the Azon Boot logo is shown press and hold the upper right corner of the touchscreen display. You will be shown a password entry page.

If the password window is not shown you will need to restart the machine and try again.

STEP 55

Enter the following password to enter service mode: 170166

STEP 56

Press the “Settings” tab on the touchscreen menu

Press the “Machine Selection” Option inside the “Settings” tab

Select Razor as your printer Model

At this point the machine will make the automatic “Table length calibration”. This means gantry will automatically move all the way to the back and to the front 2 times. Make sure nothing is on the way and on the table during calibration. In emergency situations press the Panic Button.

STEP 57

When the calibration is over , press the “Exit Button” to return to normal mode.

Test out all the controls on the new display unit to make sure everything works optimal. For any issues or doubts contact azonprinter support department
